Devin Burgess – Violin & Viola Instructor.

Devin Burgess grew up in the Finger Lakes region in New York. She began violin lessons at age four through Ithaca Talent Education’s satellite program in Geneva NY. During her high school years she played with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and studied with Associate Concertmaster of the RPO Wilfredo Deglans.

Devin received her Bachelor’s in Music Performance from Baldwin Wallace University where she studied violin with Dr. Barton Rotberg and Viola with Lembi Veskimets. She was awarded the Martha G. Arnold Talent Scholarship in her junior year. She also pursued a minor in creative writing and graduated cum laude.

During her Master’s degree in Viola Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Oregon Devin held a graduate assistantship playing with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra and teaching through the University’s Community Music Institute. A student of Arnaud Ghillebaert, she was awarded Outstanding Graduate Performer in Strings upon graduation.

An active performer Devin has played with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra NEXT, the Eugene Concert Choir, and The Oregon Mozart Players.

Devin has performed in masterclasses for, David Kim, Stanley Kanopka, Dario Luisi, The David Oistrakh String Quartet, and Lawrence Dutton.

She is currently pursuing a Graduate Performance Certificate as a student of Ann Marie Brink. When away from her viola Devin enjoys playing the drums, writing short stories, and playing street hockey.
