Gail Mangurten – Piano Instructor.
Gail Mangurten is musical director of many professional and community ensembles. She taught piano at the Virtuoso Performing Arts Studio in Morton Grove for twenty years.
A master of many styles, she is in demand as an accompanist for musicals, wedding ceremonies and synagogue and church services. She accompanies auditions at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center in Arlington Heights.
Gail has made four recordings with the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and toured with the Band extensively, including performances in Europe and at Carnegie Hall. She was composer and arranger of the show, “Jewish Songbirds of Tin Pan Alley.” She was the musical director at “Tuxedo Junction”, a 1940’s style nightclub.
Gail performed with the College of DuPage Jazz Ensemble with featured guests that included Joe Williams, Buddy DiFranco, Johnny Frigo, John Pizzarelli and Clark Terry.
She graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, where she developed her classical and jazz skills, including studying with David Baker.
In addition to teaching the fundamentals of music, Gail enjoys working with her students to expand their ear training and creative skills.
