Olga Kossovich – Violin Instructor.
My name is Olga Kossovich. I am a concert violinist and teacher, having begun my studies at the Central Moscow School at the age of 4. During my studies there, while performing in Russia and abroad, I was a prize winner in several competitions, among which were the UFAM Concours de Musique (Paris, France, 2005-06) where I was 1st prize winner. At the Demidov Int’l Youth Violin Competition (Yekaterinburg, Russia, 2009) and the 17th Togliatti Int’l Competition for Musicians (2012), I was awarded 3rd prize. In 2013 I enrolled in the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory and was awarded 2nd prize in both the 3rd Savely Orlov Int’l Music Competition (Samara, Russia, 2015) and the 1st Rudolf Gummert Int’l Young Performers Competition (Kazan, Russia, 2017). As a student in the United States, I was awarded 1st prize in the Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition (Grand Forks, ND, 2019) and the Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship Competition (St Louis Park, MN, 2021). I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University, with Professor Gerardo Ribeiro.
As a performer, I have participated in master classes with renowned musicians such as Pinchas Zuckerman, Elmar Oiviero, Schlomo Mintz and Gerardo Ribeiro. As a chamber musician, I studied with members of the Borodin Quartet and worked as a chamber music instructor at the University of North Dakota.
My teaching experience began in 2013 as an assistant to my violin professor, Ara Bogdanian (a student of David Oistrakh). From assisting at the Moscow Conservatory to creating my own studio in the United States, I have helped hundreds of students of all ages develop their violin skills. My goal is to help any violinist to enhance their performance skills, conquer technical difficulties and become comfortable in public performances.
